Facing a Battle? Don’t Fear, Just Eat!

You read the title right. You are encouraged to eat whatever the battle you are facing right now is. You might be facing family, health, work, or relationship issues but I am telling you that all you need to get through these is food. Don’t get me wrong, I am not encouraging you to stress eat, but I am telling you to just relax and consume the right food in these difficult times.

The first part of Psalm 23:5 says, “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies…”. Literally, the table mentioned here is a wooden table where you eat, and seriously, the Lord is telling us to do nothing, but eat in front of our enemies. This is an assurance that whatever your circumstances are, you can expect His divine provision. If you will continue reading verse 5, it says “You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows.” – not only that He will provide; He will bless you and His provision will be overflowing so you can bless others too.

Aside from the Lord’s provision, you are also being encouraged to feed on His Word – the only food that can satisfy your starving soul (Psalm 23:3, Psalm 19:7). At times when we no longer understand what’s going on, He is telling us to trust Him and lean not on our own understanding and He will make our paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6) . He is telling us to be strong and courageous because He is with us (Joshua 1:9) and just receive his comfort (Psalm 23:4).

So now, sit back, relax and just enjoy the show in front of you. Feed on His word and see your trial turn into a testimony.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You have anointed my head with oil;My cup overflows.”  – Psalm 23:4-5
